AMIS, the Acting and Modelling Information Service,
was established in 1995 by entertainment and fashion industry professionals
who were disturbed by the exploitation of the public by unscrupulous agencies.
AMIS has been supported financially by the professional associations
within the entertainment industry such as:
AMIS was instrumental in the establishment of the Entertainment Industry
Coalition which has developed a Code of Ethics for
agents, available widely in the city of Toronto.
AMIS operates a Hotline which is supported by individual donations and
by the sale of The Agents Book.
You can reach AMIS by:
The AMIS hotline is staffed by experienced professionals from the entertainment
and fashion industries. We return an average of 75 calls per week. Every
call is recorded with full information regarding caller and inquiry or
complaint. Callers are referred, if necessary, to other organizations
or for legal advice. Such information will enable those interested in
acting and modeling to avoid exploitative situations, and where feasible,
to find legitimate entry paths into the careers of their choice.
AMIS has co-operated with and made information available to the Toronto
Police Force (Fraud Squad), Better Business Bureaus and the Consumer Services
Bureau of the Ministry of Consumer and Business Services. |
